Summer of 2022

Staying in Galway Ireland for 3 weeks, the students of JMU’s summer study abroad program in Ireland did their best to get to know the area well. Trying to appreciate all that Galway has to offer, they studied the community dynamics and identified areas that are important to the locals. Galway at Play represents the focus of their research, as they concentrated on the many ways Galway has fun.

Four separate groups of three students each chose to research a specific way in which people engage in fun when in Galway. Shown through an article, two videos, a podcast, and two photo galleries each, these groups attempt to share with you what makes Galway tick. Jamie Campo is a senior Sociology Major having completed all of the concentrations in the major, as well as a Political Science minor. She hadn’t ever been out of the country before and was so excited for the trip. Her last class as a JMU student was a play in Galway.
